Violence Involving those Who Identify as Women And Girls (VIIWAG) Special Interest Group

The VIIWAG Special Interest Group was first established by the Violence Reduction Unit in 2021 and focuses upon violence involving those who identify as women and girls.

The group title uses a broader definition that often used, reflecting an interest both in those who offend and those who are victims and also acknowledges wider interests and considerations associated with sexual orientation and gender.

Since the publication of Thames Valley Police’s first Violence Against Women and Girls Strategy in April 2022, the Special Interest Group has shifted out of the VRU’s programme and is now structured to support the Force-led working group.

The Special Interest Group does continue to meet with an active membership and varied agenda. As a professional network is not open to the public. If you are a professional or academic working in this area contact Inspector Gayle Tandy, Thames Valley Police Operational Lead for Violence Against Women & Girls.
