Thames Valley VRU partners with TVP and West Mercia Police to combat Cyberbullying

Tuesday 9th February 2021 was the 18th Safer Internet Day with the worldwide theme of “Together for a better internet.”

In support of the day, Thames Valley VRU partnered with West Mercia Police who had developed excellent interactive resources aimed and children and young people as well as parents and carers. These advice sheets explain the issues and give guidance and support as well as signposting to relevant agencies and social media channels.

Russ Massie from the Thames Valley VRU Early Intervention and Prevention strand said, “Whilst there is no legal definition of bullying, it often involves offences and is always likely to cause serious harm to young people. Once these harms are transferred to online behaviours in the form of Cyberbullying it becomes even harder to combat. We’re grateful to West Mercia Police for allowing us to amend and share their excellent products.”

Whilst the resources were published with the support of Thames Valley Police on Safer Internet Day they remain relevant all year and are freely available via the VRU website on the following link Cyber Bullying Advice Sheet – Thames Valley Violence Reduction Unit (tvvru.co.uk)
