Operation RASURE – Tackling Serious Violence and Knife Enabled Crime

Op Rasure is TVP’s response to violent and knife enabled crime.  It has been running since April 2020 and has now overseen and funded over 80 operations across the Force.  Op Rasure has established a way of working within each LPA, not only focusing on enforcement, but also in the engagement of partner agencies and explanation of our activity within our communities.

Our overt LPA based operations, supported by the Force Reserve, dedicated Joint Operations Unit (JOU) resources and Special Constabulary, has seen large numbers of arrests for offences including knife possession, GBH, PWITS and Robbery.  It has assisted in pre-planned and spontaneous responses, enforcing Section 60 notifications, intelligence gathering and partnership working with Specialist Operations, Border Force and the British Transport Police.

Mapped through the Serious Violence Dashboard, the funded operations have included a focus on hot spot areas, identified individuals causing the most significant harm in the community and those vulnerable to their activity.  Pro-active intelligence led activity has focussed on CDL’s and OCG’s leading to the arrest of core nominals and the recovery of drugs and weapons from our streets.

During Op Sceptre we supported high profile activity in public areas such as knife arch operations at train stations and sweeps of parks and open areas.  A focussed program concentrated on our educational establishments provided safe passage to schools and delivery of educational material including ‘lessons learnt’ videos.

Each LPA has its own intrinsic requirements and the ability for each area to remain agile in their operational responses, with OP Rasure providing support and sharing best practice between operations.
